"Our Trials are for Others First of all, I want to thank our loving Heavenly Father for being such a patient "Potter" in my life. I recently experienced some health concerns. Of course, I prayed, and believing on the word, did as James 5 tells us - I requested an anointing from the Pastor and Elders of my church. God is soooooo amazing! I went back and the doctors found their tests were negative! Later on, another issue came up, and I prayed talked to God, but this one did not go away at the time that I wanted it to. So, I prayed some more. My husband and I prayed. Then one day a small voice said to me..."I want your faith to increase beyond your practical knowledge". I was a little ashamed, you see, I had been comfortable with a certain level of faith that did not need to experience a miracle. And, now that I look back, may be it was because I doubted that miracles could happen to me. And, it would buffer the disappointment should my prayer request not be granted. This made me feel bare before the Lord. He had shown His spotlight on a very secret place in my spiritual life that only my husband seemed to have picked up on. Maybe that's one of the reasons he is in my life. His faith supercedes mine! He always tells me to have a little more faith for the impossible. So, I started on this new journey to faith that supercedes my limited knowledge. Prov 3:5,6 kind of faith. Then, with my 1/4 of a mustard seed faith, the Lord did it! He met me the rest of the way. This other health issue resolved when I let it go and allowed God to be my provider. He is a powerful entity all by Himself! I came to learn a few lessons from that experience: The enemy does not have power, he only has permission. That means when things go wrong, God has already calculated that in to His plans for your life...plans "to give you an expected end" (Jer 29:11). The other lesson, God is our Father, we can ask Him for anything, and He will provide everything we need, even if it's not what we expect. I also learned that the enemy will use any stressor to try to take over the seat of our minds...including "mysterious" health ailments that show up negative on medical exams. Could it be that they are false ailments, and only a deception that he is trying to use to engulf our attention, and pull our minds away from God? I don't know, but, he only has permission anyway...And the fourth lesson, Our trials are not all about us, they are also for others. So, learn the lesson well, for the Lord may ask you to repeat it to someone else who needs to know. I came across paths with a lady about 1-2yrs ago. She is a sweet Christian lady of another faith. She and I have been rejoicing about the common "jewels" we come across in the Bible. This "friendship" that literally appeared to come out of nowhere, has been a tool for a witness. She plans to visit our church soon. And, the Lord has been ordering our steps ever since. So, she crossed my mind about a week ago, and somehow did not call her by the middle of the week. Then, my phone rings and it's her...Lord forgive me for not acting upon the Holy Spirit's unction...She called, and we begin our usual discourse of the goodness of the Lord, and what we have been learning in common, even though in different churches. So, I'm telling her of the above mentioned lessons I've learned through these health trials. And, she says to me, "You are strengthening me...please, keep me in prayer...I have been going through some things (concerning her health), and that's why I am calling you...all the tests are negative, but my symptoms persist..." God is worthy to be praised! I wasted no time. I pulled over in a parking lot, as I was driving, and we approached the throne of Grace right then and there. We will continue to pray together by God's grace, and I have encouraged her to ask the Lord to lead her to the right physicians, but if not, we will continue to seek the Master Physician! So, I'm sorry this is so lengthy, but if you have read all this, then do me a favor...pray for my friend (God knows who you are referring to), and remember your trials come to increase your faith, not to aggravate you...and your trials are also to help someone else. I pray that God will allow me to write a Victory story about what He has done for her, as a sequel to this one - because, I now know that He can turn her whole experience into a Faith Lesson, which she will have to share with someone one day! "My family has a family reunion in Detroit Michigan for over 8 years. My mom lives with me in California, and she is the oldest of 12 children, with 6 of her own. We have never been to our family reunion. This year I have been determined to get her to the family reunion. I prayed and ask the Lord for money for tickets to go. He not only provided the money I was able to get the tickets really cheap. I then thought about the hotel prices for a room for myself and my husband and a room for mom. I prayed again and ask for the means to be able to pay for these rooms. I called one of my sisters and told her we were planning to go to the family reunion this year and she said why did't you tell me. I will pay for two rooms one for so mom and one for you and Freddie. I am really excited now. So I decided that we needed to have a rent-a-car in order to get around while at the reunion. The Lord is sooooo good. I prayed yet again and asked him for $1,000 for spending money while in Detroit. This would take care of all our meals and the car rental. Plus I would have money to return home to pay bills. There are times that I need advise, I need people to talk about spiritual encouragement, moral and emotional they are here always for me. When i have problems in just a moment they will give a comfort which I feellike they are near for me physically. Lord, I am very much greetful to have to find them here bec. " Dear Brothers & Sisters, Today is still a good day. Not to long ago a couple of my sign langage interprters met with me to go over some signs. They know that I still have a problem signing in public without feeling uncomftable. Agin I had to turn off my voice, not speak and just sign. Well that is hard for me. Well the both of them start to sign to each other then to me. I was lost. I am so useto relying on what hearing that I do have left. So for me not to use my voice and just sign, is hard. I really need to learn how to sign without feeling uncomftable and be around deaf and hard of hearing people all the time. Since I had found out how much hearing I losed, and that it would get worse in years to come, and I would have wear hearing aids as well as learn ASL. That was in 2002 or 2003. I was not happy about that beause I would have to wear the hearing aids and learn how to sign. Well God has now place a new ASL interpreter in life who will help me learn how to become a better signer and feel more comfrontable doing it. His parents are deaf and he is hard of hearing. "Recently, I asked for special prayer for when I would have surgery (major). I didn't know how I would be able to meet my expenses while I would have to be out of work for 6 weeks or so and enlisted your prayers also for all to go well during surgery. Thanks to all of you for your kindness in praying for me! God has been so good to me this November and December. I came through surgery just fine, but I healed up too tight at the Urethra. The sling kinked it off that was used for the bladder, so I had to have it loosened up. I had the major surgery Dec. 18, and the post-op surgery was on Nov. 17. I've been doing great and I can return to work and all that I had been doing prior. God really blessed financially. The flood gates were opened and I was able to even pay off a long time credit account with high interest. I know that with your continued prayers, I'll be able to find the kind of work God would have me to do without all the lifting that my work has required me to do, as a CNA/HHA. I've been trained also to be a medical assistant and graduated in 1999 with honors and passed my state testing to be state certified. I didn't try too hard to get employment as a medical assistant, as what I saw, was that I would make less money than being a CNA/HHA. I do believe God has heard your prayers. I have many interests and talents. Would love to have the time to paint pictures and write verses and poetry on cards to cheer up people. God bless and have a Great New Year! "Well Saints, Jesus is real......I proved that yesterday when my BOSS came to me to ask about him(GOD).. This is someone that didn't grow up knowing or taught anything about Jesus..She's only heard her Grandmother talked about Praying all the time, but never really took it for anything(seriously)... Of course, he hears you each and every time you call on him, but he doesn't answer in your time or when you want him to..He answers in his own time, when he sees fit. My God is an ontime God. "I just want to thank God for answering my prayers. I have been obese much of my adult life. Last august I was schedule for gastric surgery. The surgery was rescheduled three times because my doctor's father died, my job denied me the time off and told me I would be fired if I took the time off to have the surgery, and last of all I got sick with bronchitis. Then the worst happened my insurance would no longer covered this surgery. I was devastated and very depressed. Several of my friends got the surgery and were doing fine. I could not understand why I was being denied the opportunity to get the surgery so I could lose this weight. I cried to the Lord day and night. One year has passed. Many of those same people who got the surgery has developed new medical problems because of it. Yes, they are thin but they aren't as healthy. Not to mention the unattractive sagging skin they now have. God directed me to a clinic that has me on the road to losing weight.I have lost over 20 lbs so far. I'm exercising and I'm eating less.My clothes are getting loose. I have no headaches, stomach aches, or complaints of food deprivation. I feel great! God is so good! My brother, who has never helped me in my life even through some very terrible times, offered to loan me the money I needed to exit Chapman University and gave me 2 years to pay it back. Yes, that is how much I have had to pay to get my teaching Credential. Praise God, I only had $627.15 left and God must have really impressed my brother. "About a month ago when I was looking to purchase a home I had my eyes set on this one that I fell in love with. I went through the process but was told by the mortgage broker that if I had my hope set on getting this home, I could forget it. At first I started to get upset with the guy but then I prayed and said to him "ok" I had remembered that a few months prior I was in the process of purchasing another home which was more expensive and I was approved, and for some reason I couldn't figure out why I was approved for a more expensive housed before and now when I want a least expensive house It was impossible. Anyway I called the mortgage guy back and I explaind this situation to him, he was shocked, then he asked me to send him all types of information. About a day or two later I received a phone call from the mortgage guy telling me "congratulations." But it not over with yet, the devil is trying hard to mess this up for me. After being pre-approved and sending out all of my paperwork, when it was time for me to close the mortgage guy calls and tells me that I need to be working in the area where I want to purchase my home. Now at this time I was looking for a job but I wasn't an urgency. As the closing was approaching I had no job in the area. I was working, but not in the area. So the closing date came and I had to postpone everything for another two weeks. With sending out my resume and interviewing noting was happening, until last week. Now one week away from my closing I have a job and I should be closing as promised. The devil is strong but I know that my God is stronger. I know and believe that what God has for ME it is for ME! After the Dr. finished he made the statement that he hoped I didn't have a bloodclot in my leg because it was hurting. When I got out of the car and was waiting for my wife I told her, I think that this was a bad idea and before she could get to me, I passed out. I felt I would agree with Him. But when I opened my email box I found 2 letters more from Jackie and they were similar with the first one. But dear Jackie, it was not mistake. When I began to ask God what I should do, He promised to direct me, and then directed me to Psalm 103 to the words " Who heals all your diseases". Whith these words in my mind I went to my bed and slept about three hours. And now I am full of assurance He wants me to go. I open my Bible at JOB 33, and read the text I have remembered right now: "For God may speak in one way, or in another, yet man does not perceive it" I remembered Jackie's letters and decided God wanted me to experience once more what it means to praise Him and then to see His great works for me. " -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Greetings Singles’ Family and Church Friends, I am soliciting your prayers for Cassandra Harris, our singles’ leader. Yesterday evening (Wednesday, the 24th) upon arrival at her apartment, Cassandra found that there had been a terrible fire that burned up just about everything she had. She lost important papers, clothes, furniture – pretty much everything. It seems that the apartment building located next to hers caught on fire which then set hers on fire as well. By the time she got home, there was a hole where her ceiling used to be and char and soot everywhere. I know that sometimes people will ask, where is God when these things happen? Well, let me explain... First of all, Cassandra has a cat that she simply adores. She frantically asked the firemen to be allowed to go into the unit to look for him as they had already lined off the place. They tried to assure her that the cat just couldn’t have survived the blaze, the ceiling caving in or the pounding of the fire hoses. Undaunted, Cassandra looked for and found her cat alive! Yes, the cat was shaken, but finding her cat gave Cassandra a sense of hope and peace. The praise report doesn’t end there... Hardly three months ago, Cassandra was working as a Registered Nurse at a hospital in Baltimore during the night shift. This means that she would sleep during the day to accommodate this job. Very recently she was blessed with a new position during the day which she grumbled about because it was taking so long to get accustomed to after having worked on the night shift for a few years. I don’t suppose I have to say any more, but I will. If Cassandra hadn’t gotten that job on the day shift, she may not have been here as she would have been at home, asleep when the fire happened. You ask where is God when these things happen? Where He’s always been, IN CONTROL! God knew even back when she was applying for a new position that this would happen and blessed her even before she knew she needed blessing!!!! Hallelujah!!! The devil is indeed busy: testing the patience of the saints; causing them to doubt and worry; trying to make them lose hope, but although he is busy, as K.W.A.H. sang last Sabbath, “he’s already defeated!” He is a LIAR and the truth is not in him. Our God is mighty and strong in battle, so let us not fret nor fear even though we may lose EVERYTHING, where there’s life, there’s hope. We must stand true to the name we claim and BELIEVE.
